Professional profile
Mr Beckingham specialises in Keyhole (Laparoscopic) Surgery (including surgery for Gallstones, Obesity, Fundoplication and Hernias) and Surgery of the Liver and Pancreas.  He has performed over 3000 hernia repairs and 1000 cholecystectomies (gallbladder removals).

He is Head of HPB Surgery at Queens Medical Centre and Chairman of the HPB Cancer unit.  He performs major Cancer resections for Liver, Pancreatic and Biliary Cancer and undertakes complex endoscopic procedures including ERCP’s.

As well as being on the Council’s of two Surgical Associations he has written National guidelines for the management of gallstone disease.  He has over 100 original scientific papers and publications and a number of books and book chapters including Editor of The ABC of  Diseases of Liver, Pancreas and Gallbladder, and Chapters in Aird’s  Textbook of Surgery (Gallstones) , Blumgart’s Surgery of the Liver and Biliary tract and Recent Advances in Surgery (Hernia Surgery).  He is a well known speaker at National and International Surgical meetings and runs the training courses both at the MAESTrO Unit (Minimal Access Surgical Training Unit) in Nottingham (where he is Chairman) and at other centres in the UK, France and Germany.

Mr Beckingham is an expert in Surgical diseases of the Upper Gastrointestinal Tract including Gallstones, Cancer of the Liver, Pancreas and Bile Ducts, and Benign diseases of the Stomach and Oesophagus (including Reflux disease, Achalasia and Splenectomy).  Also Emergency General Surgery and Hernias. 
Medico-legal experience
Mr Beckingham has provided medical reports on Laparoscopic Surgery, Obesity Surgery, Emergency and Hernia Surgery. He also has experience in industrial tribunals and complaints work.  His practice is approximately 50:50 defence and claimant work.  He will also provide joint reports.
